Third Annual ASCD LEAP Institute Brings ASCD Voices, Perspective to Washington
Bridging the divide between educational policy and practice is focus of this year's event

Working on a National Level

The Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) will be holding the third annual Leadership for Effective Advocacy and Practice (LEAP) Institute in Washington, D.C., September 16-18, 2007.

Participants at the event will hear from Washington insiders, discuss current legislation moving through Capitol Hill, and prepare to actively engage policymakers on issues of greatest concern to ASCD Educators including recommendations from ASCD on the reauthorization of No Child Left Behind (NCLB). The LEAP Institute is a powerful training event to prepare every attendee for work in the areas of influence and policy.

Beginning this year the LEAP Institute is open to ASCD Educator Advocates, a group of Association members and others interested in education policy and who act to influence Congress to make sound education policy decisions. This change is driven by the Association's expanding role in influence and policy. Educator Advocates receive weekly news updates when Congress is in session and participate in other advocacy activities.

KASCD Executive Board members attending this year's LEAP Institute will include Sherry Reed, Gina Marx, Judy Welter, and Cheryl Semmel.
